Elegant Damask Bedding and Bedroom Decorating Ideas for the Master Suite and Teenage Girls Rooms

Damask bedding can be the height of elegance or used with success in a teenage girls' bedroom where bright colors rule the roost. When I am hired to decorate a bedroom with ample ceiling height and size that will handle large patterns, I just can't seem to help myself; I just have to suggest a black and white damask duvet cover even though nine times out of ten girls shoot me down.

They either say that they don't want an "old-fashioned" bedroom that looks like it was decorated for their grandmother or dismiss it as being too formal for their taste and they would prefer something funky and FUN! That's about the time I pull out my inspiration board with swatches of black and white damask print fabric and start layering swatches of aqua blue, hot pink and some wild neon purple to see the young lady's reaction.

DAMASK COMFORTERS CAN BE COOL
The purpose of this demonstration is to prove to my clients under a certain age that this is not the same style that was once seen in older people's dining rooms. Modern damask duvet covers and comforters may borrow the pattern from yesteryear but their attitude and style are firmly rooted in TODAY!

TOUCHES OF DAMASK BEDROOM DECOR and DECORATING IDEAS
It's true that a comforter makes a pretty profound statement and there are times, especially when decorating small bedrooms, that less is more (or at the very least adequate). In these situations, I would suggest decorating with damask using accent pieces or perhaps damask sheets that will peek from underneath the damask duvet cover rather than going overboard with a damask comforter and curtains that may be way more than the room can handle. The last thing you want is to feel like the print on your comforter set is slapping you in the face each and every time you walk into the room.
