Over the years, I have traveled from town to country decorating horse theme bedrooms. Where you live is of no consequence when it comes to loving horses. In fact I have come to the conclusion that there are as many cowboys and cowgirls in town as there are out west on the cattle ranches. As a lover of horses myself, this comes as no surprise.
We may have to live in the city for professional reasons but our hearts are in the wide open spaces where we last saddled up and rode our favorite horse. If you are wondering how we cope with living a life so far removed from our ideal environment, I can answer that question.
Some of us have homes decorated in such a style that you might imagine yourself being right in the heart of Texas. Decorating horse theme bedrooms in town is nothing new to me. Professional ranchers and ranch hands that can walk out their door right into Big Sky country tend to take their rustic surroundings for granted. But in town, we use horse bedding sets and bunkhouse decor to keep us going until we find ourselves in horse country for real.
HORSE BEDROOM DECORATING IDEAS
HORSE THEME BEDDING
Some decorators skip the busy horse bedding sets because they don’t like the way that the huge pictures of horses on the comforter dominate the bedroom. I have no problem with horse print fabrics but I prefer them folded on the foot of the bed with a solid color sheet set, coverlet and shams.
HORSE THEME WALL DECORATIONS
I have used everything from the obvious choice, horse art prints, to racks of cowboy hats and old, worn out cowboy boots. An eclectic mix of paintings, photographs and three dimensional decorations is best.
HORSE THEME BEDROOM LIGHTING
Horseshoe chandeliers and lamp shades with pictures of horses are a fitting complement to horse bedding sets and color match is rarely an issue. Pay close attention to size and scale of the lamps and ceiling lights when making your selection.
