Imagine my dismay when the lady of the house said she wanted a floral print comforter set. Not that I have a problem working with flowered bedroom decorating ideas, bedroom designs and bedding sets but I just wanted something more attractive and modern for my very first attempt at creating stunning bedroom decor. Floral prints were not part of the contemporary design that I had in mind.

In the world of interior design, the customer is always right although it’s acceptable to gently nudge his or her opinion. But try as I might, this lady had her heart set on floral bedding. This designer is not only fabulous looking himself (that hair...those eyes!) but he knows how to elevate flowers, stripes and plaid fabrics to heights that others may only dream of.

Yes, a Ralph Lauren sheet and comforter set is expensive. Such is the case with most designer bedding sets. The upside is that most of the time you do get what you pay for. Luxury bedding made from high thread count fabrics is going to cost plenty if you must have the latest collection and will settle for nothing less.

However, if you are patient you may be able to find your comforter next season at a comparably cheap price. Ralph Lauren discontinued bedding sets are not as deeply discounted as others because decorators (like yours truly) are always scouting the outlet stores sales tables and retailers are well aware that they don’t have to reduce prices very much for a sale.

Another way to save money on high end Ralph Lauren bedding sets is to take excellent care of your comforters, curtains and room decorations and resell them. There is just great demand for used luxury bedding in good condition. And you can often recoup a large amount of your luxury bedding ensemble investment when you get ready for a bedroom makeover by placing the entire collection for sale in a consignment store or in an auction.
